Li-Ion Battery Voltages and Over-discharging li-ion batteries

When using a Li-Ion battery you should consider this information on healthy voltage characteristics:

Full charge voltage: 4.2V or 4200mV
Nominal Voltage: 3.7V

Most of the phones will switch of at: 3.2V

Unhealthy dead-battery lowest Voltage: 1.5V (NOTE: Never try to charge a Li-Ion battery when the voltage is below 1.5V for more than a week).

Over-discharging Li-Ion Batteries

A Li-Ion battery should never be over-discharged. If you discharge the battery to 2.70V per cell or lower, the battery’s internal protection mechanism will put it into a sleep mode and makes it not usable anymore. Most charges will not be able to charge the battery. In case of long storage period you need to apply partial charge.

The battery should not be charged for if the voltage is below 1.5V as this can lead to overheating and other unpleasant anomalies.

Please recycle your battery.
